Meet the Top Gunn

“I want my audiences to understand that leadership is not about leading forever, but creating a legacy that will live forever. That is what Presidential Leadership is all about. To create a legacy that lives forever, you must ENGAGE in the right practices. Those practices are service and empowerment.  Leaders have to ACT with intention and conviction to truly serve and empower. When we fully ENGAGE in the right leadership practices and ACT with conviction, we can have a lasting IMPACT on the lives we touch. That is legacy. I am a living legacy of where effective leadership can take you.” –Anton Gunn

Anton J. Gunn is a former Southeastern Conference football player for the University of South Carolina. After doing battle against some of America’s most elite college athletes, in the most dominant football conference, Anton Gunn turned pro in something else. Rising from political obscurity, Anton Gunn became one of the most audacious and impactful leaders in the history of South Carolina. Described by Time Magazine as a political novice, Anton used his battle-tested leadership skills to become the first African American in history to be elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, from District 79.

Anton used these same leadership skills to help Barack Obama battle through one of his toughest challenges as President of the United States of America, health care reform. After achieving the honor, privilege and responsibility of leading at the highest level as a state legislator and advisor to the President of the United States, it was in the healthcare industry where Anton’s true gift of teaching professionals how to become influential leaders would have the greatest impact.

Anton Gunn is a dynamic speaker and healthcare guru that teaches leaders how to embrace change, improve engagement and overcome adversity. His presentations inspire leaders to think differently and act differently. Offstage, He rolls up his sleeves with individuals and organizations to guide them through proven, easy-to-implement strategies that helps them to achieve leadership greatness.

Anton says he made history in sports, healthcare and politics because he mastered the fundamentals of leadership. He learned these fundamentals growing up in a military family and listening to Hip Hop music. Hip Hop music taught him the power of creativity, innovation and being passionate about the work you do. As a fourth generation military brat, Anton learned the importance of service and sacrifice from his grandfather, father and brother. Anton became a victim of Al-Qaeda’s terrorism against the United States of America when his younger brother, Signalman Seaman Cherone L. Gunn, was killed in the terrorist attack on the USS Cole on October 12, 2000. As a Gold Star Brother, Anton uses the stage to share the impact a terrorist attack had on his life and he teaches leaders how to overcome adversity. He also shares the significance of this terrorist attack and the leadership legacy of service inspired by his brother’s ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America.

Anton and his team are now committed to developing more leaders by sharing the Presidential Leadership Principles he has learned from some of America’s greatest innovators and leaders, including four American Presidents, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. His motto and signature program, Inspect What You Expect: Impact More Lives as a Leader is a no-brainer for professionals of all levels. According to noted Distinguished Professor of Politics, Dr. Peter Drier, Anton is one of the top 50 Progressive leaders changing America.  With his dynamic, charismatic and inspirational style he is considered one of the top leadership presenters in his generation.
